Betty was born on December. 21, 1928 in Crawford County to the late Arthur Russell and Helen (Ellis) Nickler. She was married October 24, 1947 to the late James R. Smith Sr. who preceded her in death on March 22, 1995. She was also preceded in by her daughter Malinda Cady, son in law, Michael Cady, granddaughter, Abigail (Abbey) Snyder, sister, Donna M. Eaton, and son in law, Michael England.
