Biography:  Robert A. “Bear” Hildebrand, 70, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014 surrounded by his wife and family after a long battle with cancer.  Robert was born in Bucyrus on January 9, 1944 to the late Robert W. and Dorthea (Day) Hildebrand. 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Terry Alvin Hildebrand and Marshall Kerry Hildebrand.  Surviving him are his wife Carolyn of Bucyrus and two sons, Jeffrey Hildebrand of North Robinson and Robin (Crystal) Hildebrand of Nevada, Ohio, as well as one brother Burdette Day of Norwalk. 

Bear graduated from Wynford High School in 1964, started working at Swan Rubber that same year and retired in 2008.  He enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling on TV, collecting model trains , spending time with his old friends from work and going to VFW Post #1078 and the Moose to shoot the breeze with friends, spending time with family and going to Amish auctions with his brother-in-law John. 

A special thank you is extended to Heartland Hospice for all the care and support in his final few months. 

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 am with Chaplain Tom Goossens officiating.  Burial will follow in Crawford County Memory Gardens.  The family suggests contributions made be made to the donor’s choice and expressions of sympathy may be left at munzpirnstill.com
