Biography: Edwin Eugene "Captain Ed" Powers, 81 of Bucyrus passed away on Saturday July 23, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.  Ed was born March 16, 1941 in Bucyrus to the late George Ellis and Sara Ann (Armstrong) Powers.  He was married April 15, 1979 for 45 years to Ellen (Kincade) Powers who survives.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters Brenda Haycook and Shari Powers as well as sister Sandra Blankenship and older brother Donnie Luther Powers. 

Ed is survived by children Lianne Powers and Kevin and Chris Haycook; 2 immediate granddaughters Denna (John Dizoppo) Kincade and Amber (Kevin) Newcomer; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, and his first mate and nephew Steve Blankenship. 

Ed worked at Swan Rubber for a short time but loved being a Charter Captain on Lake Erie for 47 years and being the owner of A.C. Charters.  Ed loved his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much.  He also enjoyed cook outs, reading books, crossword puzzles, poker games, western movies, and taking rides in the country looking for deer. 
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 6:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Lung Association. The staff of the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
